Overview¶
Our team of quantum computing analysts offers expertise, guidance, and training in quantum computing and hybrid classical-quantum computing. As of January 2025, Calcul Québec provides access to a 24-qubit superconducting quantum computer, MonarQ, available via the Narval cluster. See the MonarQ page for more details.

What is quantum computing?
A quantum computer leverages the characteristics of quantum particles (qubits), including superposition of states, constructive and destructive interference, and entanglement. Thanks to these properties, a new computing paradigm is in place, promising greater parallelization for solving complex problems that remain intractable for classical computing systems.
Applications¶
Optimizing complex problems is one of the most promising areas for quantum computing and can be applied to several research fields: * Machine Learning: The quantum computer could reduce learning times and processing delays. * Finance: The quantum computer could accelerate portfolio risk assessment and fraud detection. * Molecular Modelling: The quantum computer could allow for the simulation of more complex chemical systems and real-time reactions. * Meteorology: The quantum computer could allow for an increase in the number of variables for weather forecasts. * Logistics: The quantum computer could enable the optimization of logistics and workflow planning associated with supply chain management.
Quantum Computing Software¶
Several specialized software libraries exist for quantum computing and developing quantum algorithms. These libraries allow for the construction of circuits that are executed on simulators, mimicking the performance and results obtained on a quantum computer. They can be used on all Alliance clusters.

Training¶
Our team of analysts offers theoretical and practical training sessions at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. These are offered online or in person at one of our university sites, in French or English.

Research Assistance and Technical Support¶
We offer quantum computing research support services, including consultations, personalized technical support, and an evaluation of the feasibility of your projects on MonarQ.
